Dr. Orlando Cuasay of Class 1967 has been summoned from this world on May 6, 2018.

He was a respected anesthesiologist from Oak Brook, IL.

Leonorio B. Tuason, MD of Class 1954 passed away October 27, 2017.

Manuel J. Ong, MD

Nov 12, 1954 - Nov 3, 2017

It is with great sorrow that we (Class 79) announce the untimely passing of one of our most beloved classmates- Mannny Ong.  He was a son, brother, friend, classmate, physician, lover, husband, father, & grandfather.  In his short but fruitful time, he touched numerous lives - his memory and legacy will not be forgotten.  He was a practicing neonatologist/perinatologist in the Tampa, Florida area and directed the neonatology unit in his hospital until his demise.  

Manny was married to our classmate, Annette Sanchez, MD.  Together, they have 2 daughters and 2 grandchildren.  They are generous donors to our charitable projects most notably the USTMD 79 GK Village in Bantayan Island, Cebu. 

Please remember Manny Ong and his family in your prayers.  Class 79 will miss Manny but we take comfort in knowing that he lived his life as a true Thomasian physician with competence, commitment, compassion, and dedication to his family, friends, patients, and most of all, to those in need.   

REYNALDO C SULIT MD 

April 12, 1936 - February 27, 2017 

Dr Sulit served as the 27th president of the Philippine Medical Association in Chicago (PMAC) in 1989-1990. He was an alumnus of Arellano High School in Manila and belonged to University of Santo Tomas medical school Class62. 

He practiced ophthalmology for 35 years in the Chicagoland medical system, specifically in West Oak Lawn location, the Cataract Glaucoma Clinic. 

Trained initially as an eye, ear, nose and throat specialist at the Mercy Hospital Medical Center, he decided to specialize in ophthalmology. Earlier, Dr Sulit had internship at Illinois Masonic Hospital. 

For many years, he held the title of chief ophthalmologist at Little Company of Mary Hospital and Holy Cross Hospital, with affiliation at the Mercy Hospital Medical Center and Norwegian American Hospital. Dr Sulit was also the medical director of the ALLIANCE Home Healthcare, founded in 1994, in Lemont IL. 

Each year, he had performed charity works in the Philippines as part of the annual Norweigan American Hosptial and PMAC medical missions, providing medical care to underserved areas of his poverty-strickenhomeland. 

At age 80, Dr Sulit went home to the Lord. He was beloved husband of 50 years to Dalisay A Sulit MD (nee Alejos); devoted father of Rommel, Reggie, Robert, Rafael (Jennifer), and Madonna (Alex) Rheingans; and proud grandfather of Elena, Katrina, Sienna, and Matthew. 

Visitation is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, March 4 and 5, 2017, from 3:00 to 9:00 pm, at the Robert J Sheehy & Sons Funeral Home, 9000 West 151st Street, Orland Park IL 60462 (telephone 708-857-7878). 

Funeral is on Monday, March 6, 2017, at 9:00 am, from the IL to Our Mother of Good Counsel Church with a 10:00-am mass, and interment at Good Shepherd Cemetery, Orland Park. 

In lieu of flowers, donations to Our Mother of Good Counsel Church, or Poor Clare Monastery would be appreciated.

RE: NICANOR GUEVARRA 

It is with deep sorrow and pain that I announce the passing of a very dear friend and colleague, Dr. Nicanor Guevarra.  He passed away on Tuesday, Nov 8, secondary to complications from a cerebral hemorrhage. 

Nick was a graduate of UST Medicine Class 65. He is survived by his wife, Dr. Arsenia Guevarra, Class 66, and children, Nick Jr. and Ron and 3 grandchildren.

Nick was a Benefactor and member of the Board of Directors of the USTMAAA Foundation and Past President of Michigan Circulo Pampangueno. He will always be remembered and admired for his goodness, his generosity and his genuine simplicity. He was a man of goodwill, a man so trusting and understanding of others. 

God took Nick in His loving arms for He saw that he needed rest.  We pray that God will give Arsenia and family the strength and courage to bear the loss. 

His body will be brought back to Michigan from El Paso, Texas where they have resided for the past few years.  Funeral services will be held at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Rochester Hills.  Details to follow.

With deep sorrow and sympathy for Joven and his family, we mourn the death of his childhood sweetheart and beloved wife, , Lily , on August 17, 2016. She is now resting in peace with God's everlasting love and happiness. We can't feel saddened over the loss of those we love without first remembering the joy of loving and being loved by them. The real sadness would have been never having them in our lives at all. God has blessed our classmates, Lily and Joven with love, faith, success, prosperity, 4 children, 8 grandchildren and achievements which have given them JOY. We thank Lily and Joven for their support and contribution to the USTMED Class 1958 Legacy, Celebrations and Reunions. Read the Profiles of their family and professional achievements , their avocations and message in our book " The Thomasians 2008 Golden Jubilarians ". Let us celebrate Lily's life, her achievements and success. May God comfort and bless Joven and their family with the Gifts and Fruits of the Holy Spirit always !

We grieve of the loss of a classmate and great friend Violeta (Lily) Rivera - Mangahas. We are blessed with happy memories of Lily. We have played many rounds of golf together, by the way Lily is the best  female golfer of UST Medical class of ’58. We have visited each other’s home  many times even when they were still in Indiana some twenty odd years. My wife and I get together with Lily and Joven at least once a year, the latest one was February this year. Lily has been very active in reuniting the class of ’58. At least once a year for two years before the incomparable dance presentation, dubbed as dancing Queens, Lily would assemble all participants, hire a dance instructor to teach us and practice the different dance moves for one week at a time at their home at The Villages of Florida. This dance was presented at our Golden Jubilee in conjunction with annual USTMAAA at Las Vegas.

Through Lily & Joven the class of ’58 continue this yearly reunion, of late working with Bill & Mary Oh also class of ’58. It is fitting and a tribute to Lily that the reunion scheduled by Lily and Bill Oh in September 2016 be postponed for next year.

 Lily you will be sorely missed.

It was Joven & Lily that proposed me for the 2014 USTMAAA Most Outstanding Alumni for Community Service Award. Also they support the American Foundation to Aid the Poor.
